MSPglobal Expert Group kicks off preparation of International MSP Guidance

Following the fourth edition of the MSPforum organized in Riga, the MSPglobal Expert Group held its first face-to-face meeting on 22-23 November 2019 in the Latvian capital to brainstorm ideas for the joint DG MARE/IOC-UNESCO International Guidance on Maritime/Marine Spatial Planning (MSP).

The two-day discussions focused on governance aspects at national and transboundary levels, as well as the need to update the IOC-UNESCO 10-step approach for the planning and management of marine areas and their resources.

The International Guidance will be essential to support the implementation of the Joint Roadmap to accelerate Maritime/Marine Spatial Planning processes worldwide.

Established in April 2019, the MSPglobal Expert Group is made up of established and recognized individuals of high scientific standing in one or more key areas relevant to MSP and Sustainable Blue Economy, from all regions of the world.
