Which marine spatial plans exist?

Denmark does not currently have a spatial plan for the sea. However, a range of sectorial plans have been developed, and these plans will provide a key contribution to the coming planning process.

The Danish MSP is now under public consultation. Consultation responses can be submitted through the havplan.dk website until 30 September 2021.

Legal framework

The Danish Parliament has adopted the Maritime Spatial Planning Act, which establishes the framework for spatial planning in the Danish marine areas.

The coming spatial plan will apply to the marine internal waters, the territorial sea and the EEZ.
