The fifth edition of the MSPforum took place in Barcelona, Spain. It was jointly organized by UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission and European Commission’s Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, with the support of the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge and the Port of Barcelona.

It provided a dialogue platform for 85 participants from about 40 countries to discuss and exchange experiences and good practices on key topics of the updated MSProadmap:

  • Knowledge support for MSP
  • Capacity building and awareness
  • Transboundary cooperation
  • Climate-smart MSP
  • Marine protection and restoration
  • Sustainable blue economy
