A series of online consultations were held between 16 and 27 August 2020 with different sectors from Ecuador and Peru in the framework of the MSPglobal pilot project in the Southeast Pacific.
As part of the pilot project, an ecological, physical and socioeconomic mapping of the Gulf of Guayaquil is underway to develop the pre-planning phase of Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) in this cross-border area between Ecuador and Peru.
Representatives from the sectors of the environment, tourism, defense, transport, fisheries, aquaculture, oil and gas from both countries were asked to validate sectoral maps and respective datasets on current conditions.
They also provided feedback and inputs to existing geodatabases used for the development of cartography.
Thirteen participants from Ecuador and twenty-four from Peru took part in the meetings.
