Legal framework
There is no legislation for MSP in Namibia yet. However, the Marine Spatial Planning National Working Group has made a proposal to the leading agency (Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources) to either develop a new act for MSP or amendment to the existing legislation (Marine Resource Act, 2000 (Act 27 of 2000)) under the ownership of that Ministry. Both pros and cons of the two options were provided to make it easier for the decision maker to decide and initiate the process.
