National Maritime Policy, Supreme Decree No. 012-2019-DE:
Objectives:

- Strengthen productive activities in the maritime field in a rational and sustainable manner
- Increase trade in a sustainable and diversified manner in the maritime field
- Ensure the sustainability of resources and ecosystems in the maritime area
- Strengthen security in the maritime sector
Bicentennial Plan, Supreme Decree No. 054-2011 PCM:
The Bicentennial Plan considers a strategic program of national scope, the “Program of Integrated Management of Coastal Marine Areas”, with the following expected results:
- Greater articulation in the actions of the three levels of government and national sectors in the coastal marine areas
- Sustainability of economic activities
- Promotion of food security
- Management and planning of coastal marine areas
- Conflict resolution
- Conservation and sustainable use of coastal marine natural resources
General Environmental Act, Law No. 26861:
The State promotes the conservation of marine and coastal ecosystems as areas that provide natural resources, a source of marine biological diversity and environmental services of national, regional and local importance.
National Environmental Policy, Supreme Decree No. 012-2019 (Ministry of Environment):
Establishes in the Policy Guidelines for Coastal Marine Ecosystems the need to strengthen integrated management of coastal marine areas and their resources with an ecosystem-based approach.

Guidelines for the Integrated Management of Coastal Marine Areas, Ministerial Resolution No. 189-2015 (Ministry of Environment):
Strengthen the environmental management of marine coastal areas through the implementation of a planning process that allows economic and sustainable growth of marine coastal areas and their environment, taking advantage of natural resources and ecosystem services provided by these areas in a sustainable manner.

- Preparation: establishment of enabling conditions at regional and national level
- Planning: analysis of the problem situation and definition of the proposal for change
