As part of the MSPglobal pilot project in the Southeast Pacific, a national workshop on Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) and Sustainable Blue Economy is taking place on 12 February 2020 in Lima (Peru), one of the member states of the CPPS Plan of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment and Coastal Areas.
Organized to complement a training course from June 2019, this event will cover:
- The current situation of the national marine and coastal zones;
- Peru’s National Maritime Policy for 2019-2030;
- Advances in the MSPglobal case study in the Gulf of Guayaquil;
- Introduction to and panel discussion about the concept of Sustainable Blue Economy.
Furthermore, two full days of stakeholder meetings in Tumbes, Peru (14 February) and Machala, Ecuador (17 February) will allow local actors to learn more about MSP and the Blue Economy in the two countries as well as the MSPglobal pilot project in the Southeast Pacific, and also contribute to the mapping exercise in the Gulf of Guayaquil and identification of opportunities and challenges in the area.
