3rd edition of the MSPforum
12-15 May 2019
Over 100 professionals representing marine spatial planning public authorities, academia and maritime sectors will meet on 12-15 May 2019 in the Spanish coastal city of Vigo to exchange ideas and best practices to conserve our ocean and use its resources in a sustainable way.
The third edition of the International Forum for Maritime Spatial Planning (MSPforum), with the valuable collaboration of the Port Authority of Vigo, will create a space for dialogue and mutual understanding about MSP and build on experience sharing among participants from all over the world. In addition to technical panels, visits to local institutions and businesses will allow representatives of maritime sectors to complement the discussions between professional planners.
With its long fishing and transportation history, Vigo is an example of coastal city where maritime activities have shaped economic development for centuries and marine spatial plans are especially relevant in support of the sustainable blue economy strategies. Its geographic proximity to Lisbon, Portugal, where the European Maritime Day 2019 will be celebrated on 16-17 May, will facilitate synergies and experts’ participation to both events.
